Google Pagespeed was on everyone’s lips for a long time. There are now new key figures that describe the visitor experience much more precisely. The pagespeed value, on the other hand, was a single figure in which a wide variety of influences were mixed together. In addition to the pagespeed score, the TTFB, also known as server response time, described at the beginning of this article, also influences these new metrics from Google called Core Web Vitals. These have replaced the former Pagespeed Score as an SEO metric and have been used by Google as a direct ranking factor since 2021. (You can find our series of articles on Core Web Vitals here) The LCP and FID values in particular can be significantly slowed down by suboptimal hosting, which can severely disrupt your ranking depending on the industry and competition.

The fact that Google takes such measures into account is not least due to the fact that users are simply happier on pages that load smoothly. The dwell time is longer, the bounce rate is lower and visitors’ goals are more likely to be fulfilled. And what does the latter mean for the website operator? Quite simply, more conversions. More sales through a better brand experience and better user loyalty. Because this trend has been developing for a long time and is only getting stronger, we have always attached great importance to ensuring that our customers’ WordPress websites have the resources they need.
